2 – 5 September 2015 - the 3rd Book Festival “You Read, Izhevsk!” took place in Izhevsk
On September, 2nd the municipality of Izhevsk, the centralized Library System of Izhevsk and the Association for City development opened the Third Book Festival “You Read, Izhevsk!”. It was held from 2nd to 5th September on the Izhevsk Central Square.
The Festival’s aim is to create intelligent space for citizens to develop creative and artistic potential.
This time the guests of the festival were the author of detective and historical novels Polina Dashkova and the children’s writer Yulia Kuznetsova.
Every day of the festival had its own theme, among them there were “Ethno-Izh”, “The Book and the Theater” and “Literature Marathon”.
The main events of the festival included meetings with the writers, theatrical plays, VIP-readings, intellectual tournaments, evening performances. 21 book publishers took part in the festival. A free microphone was set up on the stage named “Voices of Izhevsk”. Every person could participate in the fast reading and public speech master classes, lectures, poetic plays, photographing.
Children enjoyed the puppet show, music plays, interactive games, competitions and casting for a “Play in three days” project.
The program of the festival also included tabletop games tournaments, a books free market, meetings with the Udmurt writers Vyacheslav Ar-Sergi, Petr Zaharov and the others.
New to the festival was the initiative to paint the facades of three libraries by the citizens and professional artists. The initiative brought new life to the Library #17, the library n.a. I.A. Krilov and the library n.a. Nagovitzin.
