Red Festival in Izhevsk

On September 14th, 2014 events of the traditional Red Festival took place in Izhevsk.

Head of the city Mr. Alexander Ushakov visited some of them. In the morning he greeted participants, guests and organizers of the agricultural exhibition “Red basket”: “This unique fair gives all gardeners, farmers and craftsmen an opportunity to meet, exchange experiences and trade. I’d like to wish everyone luck and positive mood, and I strongly recommend to attend all events of the Red Festival that are going to take place today”.

After that Mr. Ushakov and other representatives of the local authorities participated in the opening ceremony of the Red Festival in the Cosmonaut’s park. In his welcoming speech Mr. Ushakov underlined that the Red Festival is becoming more and more interesting and bright every year. It is featured by variety of events and contests. For Izhevsk citizens it has become a good occasion to meet and communicate with friends.

In the Cosmonaut’s park tourist relay races, Russian traditional round dance games, master-classes on fitness, competition of pets were organized. Besides that, the Festival’s guests had an opportunity to participate in the contest of red baby carriages, and in the evening they could enjoy a fire show.

Moreover, the final of the “Red melody” contest became one of the events of the Red Festival. Creative groups and artists – winners of the contest in various nominations (choreography, instrumental music, vocal, choir) appeared on stage.

Active and bright was the Red Festival in the Izhevsk Central square. Mr. Ushakov witnessed the contest of children's drawings “Red sun”, attended the Interregional exhibition “Izhfitness 2014” where master-classes and dance lessons for all comers were organized. Besides that, near the House of Government of the Udmurt Republic the “Molodoy chelovek” theatre conducted a program of the Red children’s day that included games, performances, contests, etc.

Rich program of the Red Festival also included a bicycle parade “Red-haired on wheels”.

In the evening the final of the contest “Red beauty” took place in the Central square. Tatiana Povysheva – a student of the Izhevsk State medical academy – became its winner. She is a member of students’ council, is keen on numismatics, likes to read Sergey Esenin’s poems and dreams of learning how to play the Hawaiian guitar. The red-haired beauty was crowned by the soloist of the popular Russian band “Neschastny sluchai” (“An Accident”) Alexey Kortnev.
