Festival of Flowers in Izhevsk

The traditional Festival of Flowers took place on the Izh pond embankment on September 5th as a part of the “Izhevsk is a blooming city” contest.

This year’s theme of the festival was the myths of the city of Izhevsk. All the participants met Lopsho Pedun’ – a character of the Udmurtian folklore, listened to the Udmurtian folk music played by the ethno-rock band “Tiloburdo”, and watched a theatrical play “The Breath of the Sky Dew” presented by “Higher than Rainbow” studio from the P.I. Tchaikovsky arts school # 2. Dance studio “Vertical” and ballroom dancing studio “Curtsy” also took part in the festival. Guests of the festival participated in master-classes on arranging bouquets, stone decorations, trinkets’ making, decoupage and aqua makeup.

“The “Izhevsk is a blooming city” contest attracts schools, kindergartens, entrepreneurs, industrial and state companies from all over the city. Every summer the city changes – floral compositions decorate its streets. Works of the participants are getting more and more professional, and a lot of citizens grasp specificity of a landscape design,”- said Alexander Ushakov, the Head of the City.
