11-20.07.2012 Group of schoolchildren from Izhevsk visited the twin-city Bedzin (Poland) within the joint project “Summer camp for schoolchildren from twin-cities Izhevsk and Bedzin”

In July, 2012 a group of talented schoolchildren from the city of Izhevsk got a unique opportunity to visit the twin-city Bedzin along with some other Polish cities within the joint project of Izhevsk and Bedzin on schoolchildren exchange during summer vacation that has been realizing for four years already.

Beyond doubts, this initiative should be considered as positive achievement of bilateral relations development. Cultural exchange as a special form of collaboration is extremely effective because it allows representatives of one culture to get acquainted with an absolutely new environment and to communicate directly with its inhabitants.

For the first time, schoolchildren from Izhevsk took part in the project in 2009 when they got an opportunity to travel to Bedzin visiting also Warsaw and Krakow.

In 2011 Izhevsk gladly accepted a group of schoolchildren from Bedzin. Rich programme that allowed them to get acquainted with the city, its history, cultural peculiarities and dwellers was prepared.

In 2012 the Polish party took the role of a host again. Izhevsk was traditionally represented by a group of talented schoolchildren. This year a contest to become a participant of the project was carried out among students of sport schools, winners of city, republican, all-Russian and international sport competitions.

The programme of stay included great variety of interesting and informative events and excursions. Izhevsk schoolchildren became participants of games organized by the Knight Brotherhood at the Castle in Bedzin, took a walk across the center of the capital of Poland – the city of Warsaw, enjoyed famous views of Krakow, and touched the East atmosphere at the Japan garden in Wroclaw. Sport character of the group was taken into consideration by the organizers and found its reflection in the programme: during their stay in Poland children constantly had an opportunity to go in for sports; besides that, they tried themselves as squash players, and actively supported Russian team “Katyusha” during the international cycle race “Tour de Pologne”. Moreover, official meeting with representatives of Bedzin city hall and meeting with children who visited Izhevsk in 2011 were organized for Russian students.

A large amount of bright emotions of participants of the Izhevsk group after their Polish trip confirms the fact that this project has to have its continuation and development.
