General description
Winter in Izhevsk is the longest period: it starts approximately in November and lasts till the middle or sometimes the end of March. The weather can be very changeable: the temperature -30-35 C may suddenly change into 0 C or even into the temperature above the zero with piercing wind. One has to be very well prepared both to severe frost and to sudden warming. A fur-cap, a fur coat, a pair of warm woolen gloves are as necessary as a windcheater. Late spring (the end of April, May) and early autumn (September, the beginning of October) are usually quite warm, sunny and pleasant. Late October is on the contrary mostly rainy and overcast. That is why you should always take an umbrella however promising the sun may look like.
The days in the beginning of March and April are windy, and very rare (though it happens) it can even snow. The weather in summer months is usually very hot and the temperature rises up to +30 C. But heavy showers and rains is a common thing as well. August generally is a turning point from summer to autumn: sunny summer days gradually give place to more chilly ones.
